The count kept by the invoice
The tech lists the parts used on the invoice and the software deducts them from the truck. One entry, two records. A count that depends on a separate end-of-day chore is a count that stops being kept in the second week.
The cost in one place
The part's cost from the last supplier invoice, read by the price book for the markup and by the inventory for the reorder value. When the cost changes, both follow. The price book template on this site holds that cost column.
The reorder by supplier
Each part has a reorder point and a supplier; the software produces the order by supplier when the count crosses it, so the tech is not at the supply house on the customer's time.
The month-end difference
The truck is counted against the software once a month and the difference per truck is the shrinkage: used and not invoiced, or gone. That report is what changes behavior.
