Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. RoughInDesk publishes no market averages and quotes no survey: the defaults are a worked example to replace with your own. The pipe dimensions in the pipe-size tool are the published standard sizes, cited on that page.
A plumbing calculator for the contractor covers three sums that come up every week: the estimate from the fixture count and the conditions, the flat rate for a task from the loaded hourly cost and the standard time, and the pipe size from the outside diameter on a remodel. The plumbing estimating software on this site does the first, the flat rate tool the second and the pipe size tool the third, each free and without an account; RoughInDesk Pro keeps the results against the job.

The estimate
Fixtures by type, runs, access and conditions in; labor at the loaded cost and materials at markup out, with the assumptions listed. The estimator on this site is repeatable because it takes the same inputs every time.
The flat rate
The rate is the wage plus the taxes, the insurance, the truck, the tools, the phone and the office, divided by the billable hours rather than the paid hours; the flat rate tool on this site produces it from your figures. The rate times a task's standard time plus its parts at markup is the flat price, and the flat rate tool builds the whole book that way.
The pipe size
The outside diameter measured with a tape converts to the nominal size: per ASTM B88, copper at 0.625 inches outside is half-inch, 0.875 is three-quarter, 1.125 is one inch; per ASTM D1785, Schedule 40 PVC at 0.840 is half-inch, 1.050 is three-quarter, 1.315 is one inch. The pipe size tool does the conversion for the rest.
The results against the job
An estimate, a price and a pipe size are worth keeping against the property they were made for. Pro files them there with the proposal, the invoice and the inspection. From the vendors' own pricing pages: Tradify lists Lite at $47, Pro at $51 and Plus at $61 per user per month; Jobber lists Core at $49 per month for one user with additional users at $29 each; Housecall Pro lists Basic at $59 per month billed annually or $79 monthly. RoughInDesk Pro is $47 per month for the whole crew.

Plumbing calculator: common questions
Are the calculators free? Yes. The estimator, the flat rate tool and the pipe size tool on this site run with no account and no card.
Which calculator do I use for a quote? The flat rate tool for a task from the book, the estimator for a job priced from fixtures. Pro turns either into the proposal.
Does the pipe size tool cover PEX and steel? It converts the outside diameter for the common materials; measure the outside and pick the material.
